Over the horizon
Vile snake has bitten me…
Sailing alone
Dark wet cold nightsGlaring hot days
There is always help I could availIf I so intended
But this is a trip I took on my whimI cannot ask more of anyone
What have I got to lose?
I do not have anything
Now that I am thinking hardI remember something I could possess
LoveLove and support for my baby I have left safely on the shore behind
Now, is it worth returning from this adventure?
To provide something not valued high in this world
Maybe by the recipient
Maybe notWith the love I give comes attachment to this world
I abhor the fruits of worldly attachmentsOr, do I really?
I started this journey to find a treasure island
That I could share with my babyI made sure she was safe
Risked my life to get treasure to her
Somewhere along the journey
I lost myselfForgot the cause
Drifted away in unmapped zoneSo worried of losing
I act like I am beyond worldly pleasuresI am not
I don’t want to be
I am going to go beyond the horizon
I am sure to find the treasure I set out to find
I will load all that I canI will take it back to my child
And spend the rest of my life in peace. No doubt in getting the treasure
Now, the question that remains is
Will she be there when I return?
Maybe she might have given up on me.
She could have gone her own way
Forgotten me
But, one day, I am sureHer grace will arrive
And she will hug me with open heartsI might be her inspiration
Or a bitter lessonThat will be answered in time
Decision to reach for horizon remains mine alone
Based on the wisdom I have been blessed with.

Her grace will arrive
And she will hug me with open hearts
I might be her inspiration
Or a bitter lesson
That will be answered in time
Amazing words

Impressive. The layers of thought and potential are deep and finely wrapped. I’ll come back for a re-read - it totally deserves at least several! Nice work!

I felt myself moving forward and then backward as I read your words, entranced with story you’ve woven here… a chilling tale of great courage…

A very interesting tale, which does a good job of showing the “hero’s” conflicting emotions about the plan of action. Well done, you!

There is a great story within these words….above and beyond a poem I see an epic adventure spread out, and a relationship to be explored. Outstanding work.
Makes me not even want to mention my first ever WI entry is posted. Feel no obligation to go read

There is so much within these words….an epic story of journey, relationship and treasure waiting to appear. Outstanding!
Makes my meager first entry seem worthless to me.
